Boston College upsets No. 10 Florida State, dropping the Seminoles to 0-2.

It was a triumphant debut for O'Brien, who took the reins in mid-February following Jeff Hafley's departure to become the Green Bay Packers' defensive coordinator.

"I'm incredibly proud of these guys," O'Brien said. "They showed tremendous resilience tonight. Coming down here against a team that felt they absolutely needed this win—it’s a huge statement for BC. But it’s just one win."

The Eagles' offense put together touchdown drives of 71, 68, and 60 yards, while BC defensive back Max Tucker intercepted DJ Uiagalelei and returned it 58 yards, setting up the Eagles for another touchdown at FSU's goal line.

Florida State, which had won five straight in the series, was outmatched on both sides of the ball in this game.

Once considered a contender for a spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff, the Seminoles dropped to 0-2 for the first time since 2021.

"I'm sick about how this season has started," said Florida State coach Mike Norvell. "I failed to prepare the team to go out and respond tonight."

Uiagalelei completed 21 of 42 passes for 272 yards, including a 29-yard touchdown pass to Kentron Poitier in the third quarter, which cut BC's lead to 21-13.

However, BC answered on the next drive, marching 60 yards in 12 plays. Kye Robichaux's 2-yard touchdown run extended the Eagles' lead to 28-13 with 1:03 left in the third quarter.

Florida State managed to score on only one of six second-half drives.

Thomas Castellanos nearly led an upset of Florida State in 2023, throwing for 305 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 95 yards and another score in a 31-29 loss. Although not as prolific on Monday, the BC quarterback completed 10 of 16 passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns, along with 73 yards rushing and a 4-yard touchdown run.

"Everything we did this offseason—from winter workouts to summer workouts—led up to this," Castellanos said. "This is what we prepared for. It all came together."
